The West Michigan holiday season will officially kick-off with the Art Van Santa Parade, presented by the Grand Rapids Jaycees. The Jaycees are excited to announce the theme for this year’s parade will be “The Songs and Sounds of Christmas”.
Downtown Grand Rapids will be filled the sweet sounds of local marching bands, carolers, and local performers. Entrants for the 2014 event will create unique entries around the theme, including costumes, music and floats based on popular & classic holiday songs.
Thousands of parade-goers will be watching as the Parade makes its way down the streets of Grand Rapids. The parade will be broadcast LIVE on WOOD TV8 starting at 9am on Saturday November 22, 2014.

About The Parade
Founded in the late 1800's, the Grand Rapids Santa Parade was designed to bring people downtown for a kickoff to holiday shopping. Seeking new leadership, the parade was taken over by the Grand Rapids Jaycees. Of note, our most well known member to date is late great President Gerald R. Ford. The Jaycees have insured that the parade is a
great community event with leadership and volunteer opportunities. In 2010, title sponsor Art Van Furniture was added bringing large scale attractions and a partnership with WOODTV8 to host the event on live television. It's going to be another great Art Van Santa Parade presented by the Grand Rapids Jaycees!
Fund a Float
This year the West Michigan community can become an even bigger part of the parade and help buy Santa a new ride that will be the appropriate focus of the parade.
The Art Van Santa Parade presented by the Grand Rapids Jaycees is looking to supersize its annual event and you can help! The Jaycees have unveiled, the “Community Grant Challenge,” a fundraising program to bring a new “Grand Rapids Themed Santa Float” to the streets of downtown.
The new float will bring another wow factor to the parade’s main attraction, Santa Claus himself! Every November, more than 20,000+ spectators line Monroe Avenue to celebrate a century long tradition in West Michigan, the kick off to the Holiday Season, and the first real glimpse of SANTA!
The Grand Rapids Jaycees have secured a portion of the funding; however $25,000 is still needed to make Santa’s new ride a reality. The Jaycees are asking community members and businesses to help.
We’re looking for individuals and groups to get involved! Volunteer roles include parade marshals, parade staging, hospitality and so much more.
Enjoy this rewarding volunteer experience and give back this holiday season.
